Table of Costs

This table outlines the different costs for the programmes on offer to different age groups and experiences.  When you go to book you will only be able to select payment options specific to that course so it should be clear but we hope this will give you a comprehensive overview.

How does the Sliding Scale work?

We opted for a sliding scale so that individuals self-select what they can contribute to pay from the options relating to income and circumstance (dependents).

The actual cost of the course is a little complicated to work out as there are so many programmes and inter-relating costs, however if all were to pay the same it would be £570.  By selecting a price option of £600 or more it enables us to offer more bursaries so that people who otherwise would not be able to afford to come have access to this programme.  It also enables us to develop AoM UK so that we can offer more trainings and support to nature connectors.

One way to think of it would be:
£550 is almost paying your way, but the whole thing would not be regenerative or able to include as many lower income families  if everyone paid this.
£600/650 enables us to offer bursary places, and grow our vision to support nature connectors in UK
£750 enables us to offer a bursary, grow our vision to support nature connectors in UK  and / or contribute to enriching the event e.g. paying towards us hosting a programme elder or guest speaker.

There is an application procedure for bursaries – see below

There are limited numbers of places at each price slot so to guarantee a place at the lower end of the sliding scale you need to book early and get your deposit in.  We are unable to hold places more than a week without a deposit.  How do I book on?

We do have a limited number of bursaries available for those unable to attend without this financial assistance.

We are committed to making this event accessible to people from a wide range of backgrounds and also need to cover our costs.  For more on this please see our FAQs.

See below for info on Bursaries.

What does the cost cover?

The course fees in the table above are ‘all inclusive’, they cover:

  • Tuition with a high ratio of staff to participants
  • Use of Hawthbush farm facilities and surrounding woodland
  • Camping (you bring your own gear – tent, mat, sleeping bag)
  • Food and refreshments (local, organic where possible)
  • Support with travel – pick ups and drop offs on days of arrival and departure from local train station
  • Some contribution to bursaries to make it more accessible
  • The opportunity to join the Art of Mentoring regional Network, which is made up of previous AoM participants and their friends.  There will be a fun gathering to welcome you organised by previous participants in your local region.  AoM is more than a training, it offers you a grassroots web of people doing nature connection work.  For more on this go to ABOUT.
  • Free membership to the AoM ‘Ning’ where you can stay in touch with us, share stories, photos, articles and resources.
  • You can have a link to your organisation on our website and advertise relevant events in our newsletter.

BURSARIES:
We budget to be able to give a limited number of bursaries.  The number we can offer does relate to what other participants can contribute according to the sliding scale options above.

This year we are asking that those wishing to apply for a bursary book on in the normal way through our online booking system (choosing the BURSARY booking form) as early as possible.  We can email you the application form, this is a simple series of questions.

We are asking that bursary applications are submitted on or before the 15th Jan enabling us to respond to applicants on or before 15th Feb.  This deadline has been created following feedback from applicants in previous years who wanted a quicker response from us to be able to plan their time and finances.

We will assess applicants eligibility based on:

  • Is there a financial need evident?
  • How will this course help you to help others connect to themselves, each other and the natural world?
