Ring 2 Nature connection immersion for returning participants
We are offering a 2nd level experience of the Art of Mentoring for folks who have previously attended Art of Mentoring. This “Ring 2″ experience will include staff guided nature connection and core routine activities deepening your capacity to guide others in nature connection.
We will be exploring some beautiful local sites in Sussex including the nooks and crannys of Hawthbush Farm and an amazing site just down the road called Wicker Woods. Tracking, bird language, crafts and play all day… Then you get to come home of an evening with the whole art of mentoring community.
There are limited places. All ages and life stages over 18 welcome. Pre-requisite Ring 1 Art of Mentoring. Ring 2 arrives one day earlier than Ring 1 participants to join staff training and get integrated. (2nd June 2012). The ring 2 programme is compatible for parents who have children in the fox or guardian and elf programme, as you will be back at camp for dinnertime each day. Book on!
Teen Adventure:
The teen programme is open to teens who are hungry to be intensively mentored in nature awareness, and wish to connect with peers from all over Britain to affirm their love of being in nature. The programme is designed to immerse teens in nature connection and personal growth adventure with their own gender group led respectively by men and women. Both programmes will have interactions with a community of elders, aunts, uncles, and youth that has formed around the Art of Mentoring Workshop, making it more than an “overnight camp”. Powerful experiences frequently occur in these programs as each participant is experiencing aspects of a living intergenerational nature based ‘village’.
This is open to teens who have some previous experience of camping and the outdoors. Teens will need to apply to ensure there readiness for this programme. Older teens with relevant experience may be eligible to be volunteer apprentice staff for this programme. Please email artofmentoringuk@gmail.com for more info. Book on!
The Foxes program
We will be running a facilitated nature connection programme for 7-12 year olds, to enable their parents to participate in the adult art of mentoring programmes. Kids will be encouraged to play and follow their passions and curiosity, with gentle guidance and lots of inspiration from our trained mentors.
Please be aware that parents are still required to supervise their children during all meal times, evenings and night times. For this reason, at least one parent may not be able to participate when evening workshop sessions are scheduled.
There are limited places available, book early to secure your place. Book on!
The Elves Program
If you could dream of a week together with your child, what would it look like? Would you spend lots of time playing? Would you explore nature together? Would you watch as you child grew comfortable and familiar in natural surroundings? Would you explore mysteries together and share elated wonderment at your new discoveries?
That’s the vision we hold for parents who are signing up with their children to join us at the Art of Mentoring. A week of deepening connections between parents and the small people. We’re living the vision, and we are exploring different ways to manifest it.
This group will be guided by nature mentors following the 8 sheilds rythms and is also parent/guardian led. So don’t think of this as a nursery, more as a held space in which to really have quality nature connection time with your child and other like-hearted parents.
We have designed this programme to enable participants with young children to attend, and of course the young ones bring much light to the camp as a whole. Together, the guardians and accompanying adults have the opportunity of creating a lovely group connection and camp experience. However, it is often hard for guardians and accompanying adults who have never done an art of mentoring before, as they are not involved in AoM activities during the day time (except for meal times). Instead they are responsible for being with/supervising their children at all times throughout the day. It can be frustrating to be in this role of service to the community, rather than receiving the course when you can see it going on all around you or may be in camp alone while participants are out in the feild.
In the evenings Guardians are welcome to join in activities and teachings, however between parents and guardians children’s needs will obviously still need to be tended and while many evening activities are family friendly, some will inevitably be adult focused.
Come in the spirit of service for your friend or partner, and really choosing to make this an opportunity for yoru connection with your child to flourish, and you will have a fabulous time!
There are limited spaces available for Elves and Guardians. (Sorry, this programme is now full.)
