Hawthbush Farm is a 140 acre organic farm in the heart of East Sussex.  They are working with Natural England under the Higher Level Stewardship scheme to protect their species rich meadows, ancient woodlands and enhance birdlife and butterflies.

The site is situated on the edge of the High Weald with far reaching views to Beachy Head.  The surrounding countryside comprises of rolling hills, scattered woodlands and ancient routeways, excellent for exploring.  The south coast is a short distance away with its dramatic white cliffs and beaches.  Heading inland you will discover the medieval towns of Battle and Lewes.

A little clip about Sussex Wildlife: Wild Britain – Chalk Downs can be found via this link.

To plan travels etc. please look at Hawthbush Farm’s website for their location and directions.  We will be emailing participants fuller details on pick-ups from local stations nearer the time of the course.

We ran a short course at Hawthbush Farm in October and during 2 days saw sightings and sign of:

vole, sika deer, fallow deer, fox, badger, grey squirrels, rabbit and more…

Who left these?
